Cool-season turf in Holland, Kentwood, and Grand Rapids sits on soils that heave in freeze-thaw and compact in summer. A program that assumed open sun will not green a strip that now sits under a filled-in canopy. A program that ignored tunnels will keep feeding grass that moles keep lifting.

Name what actually changed

Trees closed. A playset compacted a corner. A sump line started weeping. Someone cut lower for a graduation. Mole activity exploded after a wet spring. Each of those is a different limiter. More nitrogen will not thicken turf that never sees sun. More nitrogen will not glue sod back over a tunnel network.

Write the date of the landscape change, the last irrigation repair, and when color stopped matching. Photos of the thin strip next to the thick strip beat a complaint that the program failed. If ridges are the new fact, contact us with that as the lead, not as a side note on a fertilizer ticket.

Split the yard instead of averaging it

We would rather raise the cut and drop water frequency in shade than keep a full-sun fertility story there. Weeds that move into thin shade are a density problem. Grubs still need root evidence. Moles still need a mapped run, not a hope that the next lawn round scares them off.

Aeration may lead when a screwdriver will not enter sealed clay, even if the soil test looks fine. Keep lime and fertilizer on their own evidence. Freeze-thaw that opened last winter's tunnels is a pest and turf-structure story in the same week. Pretending it is only fertility is how you buy the same disappointment in September.

Occupancy and mowing vendors

If a vendor scalps every Friday, the program cannot outrun the deck. If you travel in August, name who waters. We will write those limits so you are not surprised. Closeout should record shade, mole activity, drainage, and settings. Next year we compare that file, not an old invoice title.
